The Coventry Police Museum is a branch of the West Midlands Police Museum, which is based in Birmingham.

The Coventry Museum is based in the Council House and is open every Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Coventry Police Museum first opened in 1957, at Little Park Street, now Coventry Central Police Station. It closed in 2020, but West Midlands Police Museum supported a ‘pop up’ museum as part of Coventry’s UK City of Culture celebrations.

Now the museum has found a new, permanent home, at the Coventry Council House.

The museum is staffed by a team of dedicated volunteers eager to answer your questions and share their stories about policing in Coventry.

There are collections of historic helmets and badges, police equipment across the ages, historic artefacts and confiscated property. There is a Roll of Honour of officers serving in the city and interactive displays of crime scene and forensic investigations. There are displays about the history of law enforcement in the city.

Entry to the museum is free and walk in visits are welcome.
