A planning application has been submitted to redevelop the site of the Allesley Hotel on Birmingham Road in Allesley.

The application is for permission for the demolition of the former Allesley Hotel and the construction of 62 residential dwellings, with access from Birmingham Road.

The applicant is Avant Homes West Midlands and this is their first development in Coventry.

The development comprises the complete demolition of the hotel and the construction of a new access road at the site of the original hotel entrance.

The site is 1.9 hectares located between Birmingham Road and Pickford Way. It will host 62 new homes at a density of 48 houses per hectare.

There will be 18 1-Bed units, 20 2-Bed units, 20 3-bed units and 4 4-Bed units. There are no affordable units included.

A buffer tree zone has been retained along the side of Pickford Way (A4114). This, together with a noise barrier, will help to keep noise levels acceptable within the new development.

The site is within the Allesley Conservation Area and the scheme claims to have been designed to acknowledge this,

The Coventry Society supports the development of this site for housing. We would like to see a full archaeological survey and feel that the development should include some affordable housing, in accordance with council policy.

You can inspect the planning application at PL/2024/0002270/FULM The application is currently open for public comment.
